Max Pemberton

Max Pemberton is a doctor, journalist and writer. He works full time in the NHS in mental health. He is a columnist for the Daily Telegraph and Reader's Digest and as well as a contributor to the Mail On Sunday. He has won several awards for his writing, including the Mind Journalist of the Year and the Royal College of Psychiatrists Public Educator of the Year award. He is a presenter on the BBC Radio 4 flagship health programme, Inside Health. He has also written three books; Trust Me I'm A Junior Doctor

Rev Dr Nigel Copsey

Rev Dr Nigel Copsey

Nigel is the guest speaker. He has worked in Surrey for twenty five years as the Team Leader for mental health spiritual care. Throughout this time Nigel has worked to ensure that spiritual care forms an essential element in the care of those who use mental health services. As an Anglican Priest he is also passionate about the role the Faith Communities can play in supporting those with mental health needs. Nigel teaches mental health and spirituality at a number of London Universities as well as lecturing part time in psychotherapy. He is an accredited Psychotherapist who is always seeking to integrate psychological and spiritual truth.

The Mayor of Epsom and Ewell, Cllr Chris Long

 

Councillor Christine Long is the Mayor for Epsom & Ewell Borough Council’s for 2012/2013. She was born in Haringay and brought up and educated in Clapham Junction. She moved to Epsom 25 years ago. Chrisitne has served as a Residents Association Councillor for Auriol Ward since 1999.

The initiative which Cllr Long has been most privileged to have been a part of is the setting up of the Trix Café in Stoneleigh Broadway. where young people can socialise after school. She is a regular parishioner of St. John’s Church in Stoneleigh. Christine says: "It is a great honour and privilege for me to be the Mayor of Epsom & Ewell this coming year. This is an exciting year - with not only the Olympics and Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations, but this year also marks the Borough's 75th Anniversary.

Paul Field

 

Paul Field is Director of Services at CornerHouse, a charity which actively encourages and fosters the creation and development of voluntary mental health groups and services. CornerHouse are currently commissioned by Surrey County Council to undertake this vital mental health community development role in both Woking and Runnymede.

Paul has worked as a Mental Health Advocate, trained and practiced as a person-centred counsellor, and was the first male therapist at Guildford Charity RASASC – Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre. He has been involved with several charities as a Trustee and was once Chair of Depression Alliance. Outside of work he is a keen runner and enjoys relaxing at his allotment.

Suzette Jones

Suzette Jones

 

Suzette Jones is a Registered Nurse for People with Learning Disabilities and holds a Masters of Science Degree in Mental Health, Kings College University of London.

Over a career spanning thirty years she has worked extensively with a wide variety of people who have severe health problems, mental illness and/ or a learning disability in hospital and community settings. Suzette is at present the Health & Wellbeing Adviser for the Diocese of Guildford supporting and facilitating projects which include mental health, disability awareness and education; partnership working with government and voluntary sectors; development of support services for the Deaf, deafened and hard of hearing; suicide prevention, support groups and research.

David Camilleri

David Camilleri

David was born in Malta in 1963 and ordained priest in 1992. He ministered for eight years in Melbourne Australia in a Mission Spirituality Centre. He was also involved in Vocation Ministry and Sixth form Chaplaincy there. He has an MA in Pastoral Theology and an MA in Pastoral Counselling. In 2003 he came to the UK and is incardinated within the RC Southwark Diocese. He first was assigned as an assistant priest in Dartford Kent and then parish priest for five years at St Benet's Catholic Church in Abbey Wood. in 2009 he joined the Chaplaincy team at Epsom and St Helier University Hospital and also co-ordinates chaplaincy work at St Raphael's Hospice North Cheam. David's passions are around the relationship between Spirituality, the Human Sciences and the arts.

Shidaa Adjin-Tettey

'Shidaa Adjin-Tettley  is a Project Officer at Surrey County Council and he has been in this role since 2011.  He is a member of the team which is putting the Dementia and Mental Health Services for Older People in Surrey (2010-2015) strategy into action.  He is currently working with key local partners in East and Mid-Surrey; supporting Carers, Health and Social care teams, stakeholders from the voluntary sector and local government to improve the quality and effectiveness of services for people with dementia and their carers.'

Anita Campbell and Karen Tapson

Anita Campbell  and  Karen Tapson

Anita Campbell and Karen Tapson are both Dementia Navigators and as such are able to go out and visit people with dementia offering information and support throughout their experience of dementia. We liaise with the statutory services and signpost if appropriate to other agencies. They can facilitate the access of day care and home support services and provide carers support groups. Karen is instrumental in a monthly Alzheimer’s Café in Banstead and also provides support at a weekly dementia café.

Robin van Creveld - Community Chef

Robin van Creveld is a chef, community food consultant, educator, social activist and entrepreneur. He has worked in various sectors of the food industry since 1994, and currently runs Community Chef a socially focused business offering consultancy, training, cookery classes, workshops and demonstrations in a variety of settings. Robin and his team work with nationally with schools, community groups, charities, government organisations, primary care trusts and ethical businesses. Community Chef is stewarded by Action in rural Sussex and supported by Chances 4 Change, which is funded by the Big Lottery Fund. Community Chef directly supports a sustainable food system by using and promoting local food, independent food producers and retailers, organic agriculture, community food co-operatives and community self-sufficiency.
